

Bruce Kells, 77, was born in Lewiston NY in 1948, the son of migrants from the UK and Scotland. He graduated from Lewiston Porter High School in 1966 and in 1968 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a aeronautical egress pneumatic engineer. In 1969, he married Charleen Kephart, also from Lewiston, NY. In 1971 he welcomed his son Michael into the world. Bruce left the Air Force in 1972 and pursued a career as a contractor in Phoenix, Az. In 1974 he welcomed his daughter Jennifer into the world. The Kells family relocated to Valley Center, CA in 1987. Bruce continued to work as a contractor until 1993. After retirement, Bruce & Charleen moved to Brookings, OR in 2014. However, realizing how much they missed their family they moved back to Valley Center, CA in 2016, where Bruce lived out the rest of his time on earth.
After a prolonged battle with cancer, Bruce was welcomed into heaven on August 16, 2026 at home with his immediate family by his side. While he continues to watch over us, he left behind his wife Charleen Kells, with 57 years of marriage, his son Michael (Delma) Kells of Escondido, CA, his daughter Jennifer (Bryan) Tulare of Eagle River, his brother Earl Kells of Eugene, OR, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Bruce was proceeded in death by his father Earl Kells, mother Susan Barrons-Kells and sister Marcia (Kells) Corn. In addition to his family Bruce had a passion for golf, reveling in several golf club championships (and hole in one’s) to include Woods Valley/Native Oaks and Brookings Oregon. Bruce will be laid to rest at the Valley Center Cemetery at a later date in a private ceremony with his family. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
