Eleanor Louise Hensley

September 18, 1939 – October 10, 2014

Eleanor Louise Hensley, beloved wife of Otis William Hensley, Jr., passed on October 10, 2014. Eleanor was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was known for her humor, faith, selfless devotion, gardening, cooking skills, and crafts (goose egg ornaments, cake decorating, ceramics, needle works, quilting, jewelry making, bead work, lapidary, silver smithing, etc.). Eleanor is survived by daughters: Cynthia, Rhonda, Deborah, Pamela, and Maria. In addition she is survived by grandchildren: Lorenzo, Rose, Nathan, Keith, Daniel, Kyle, Emily, Josh, Ryan, Robby, Madison, and Willow.

She was born Eleanor Louise Buniger on September 18, 1939 in Grand Junction, Colorado. The 2nd of five children born to Melvin and Louise Buniger. In in 4th grade following the death of her father, the remarriage of her mother, life changed even more with the birth of another brother and a move from her beloved Colorado to the desert of California.

She met Otis Hensley in Ridgecrest, California. They were married almost 53 years ago on November 3, 1961. Otis and Eleanor spent several years in San Diego, California and Escondido, California raising 5 daughters. Eleanor was a stay at home mother and taxi mom who was actively involved in her daughters’ activities as a PTA member, room mother, and 4-H leader. She dearly loved babies and was thrilled to become a grandmother to 12 grandchildren. When her husband’s work transferred him to Denver, Colorado; she was able to spend several years in her beloved Colorado and made many friends. Following Otis’ retirement in 2001, they returned to their home in Escondido, California in 2004. She lived out her life there with family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew this special woman.

Grave side services at 10:00am on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido. Luncheon to follow at 11:30am at the LDS Church on Bear Valley Pkwy, Escondido.
