Ella was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Stockton, California. She has one younger sister, Barbara Wildsmith, who still resides in Stockton. Ella graduated from Greenville College in Illinois with a degree in English. She met her husband, Bob, through mutual Greenville College friends. They moved to Los Angeles where she taught grade school. Ella & Bob had 2 daughters, Christi & Ginger, who were both born in Los Angeles. In 1965 the family moved to San Luis Obispo. Ella dearly loved the town and always said “I left my heart in San Luis Obispo“. In 1967 they moved to El Centro where Ella taught kindergarten for 19 years. After retirement, she and Bob moved to Escondido in 1991. Ella lost Bob in 2002 after 47 years of a wonderful marriage. In 2011, she lost Ginger to cancer at age 50. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Wildsmith of Stockton, daughter Christi (James Avelar) of Pasadena, and by 3 grandsons of Pocatello, Idaho: Daniel Gilda, Robert & Gary Sharp. Services will be held at Escondido First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 S Redwood St., Escondido, CA 92025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to International Childcare Ministries, Mission Aviation Fellowship, YUGO Ministries, or Gideons International.
