Johannes Gabertan Villanueva

Johannes Gabertan Villanueva, age 66, of San Marcos, California, peacefully passed away after facing battle with illness with strength and grace and went home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 17, 2025.

Johannes was born on March 30, 1959 in Olongapo City, Zambales, Philippines to Jose Tamoria Gabertan and Remedios Berce Peñaflor Gabertan. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Luke’s College of Nursing in Quezon city Philippines in 1980, and a Master of Science in Nursing, with a specialty in Family Nurse Practitioner from California State University San Marcos CA in 2013.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and a friend, whose kindness and compassion touched everyone she met. Johannes had a generous spirit and lived by putting the needs and happiness of others before her own. As a dedicated Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner, she was fiercely passionate about serving her community and providing excellent medical care. For decades, she worked as an ICU/CCU nurse, bringing compassion and unwavering dedication to patients fighting to recover, serving them in their most vulnerable moments. She will always be remembered as a devoted healer who touched countless lives through her care and kindness.

Johannes lived with vibrant passion and a joyful spirit, celebrating every moment with wholehearted joy. She cherished traveling and discovering the world side by side with her husband. She found joy in painting and often spent her quiet moments at home creating beautiful works of art. She was an active member of Awaken Church and a devoted prayer warrior, faithfully lifting up the needs of her church community.

Johannes is lovingly survived by her husband Ariel Villanueva, her daughters Angela Dimalanta and Sarah Lu, and granddaughters Sophie and Leilani Dimalanta.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love. The family wishes to thank the staff of Together Hospice for their special care.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at McLeod Mortuary located at 1919 East Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92029.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Miramar National Cemetery located at 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122.

A luncheon will follow after the service.
