Michael Durfee

Michael “Mike” was born June 29, 1980, in Duluth, MN. He attended UDAC and Lincoln Elementary School before moving to Escondido, CA in 1986. Mike attended Orange Glen Elementary and graduated from San Pasqual H.S. in 1998. He was currently active at William’s Quest Day Program, in Vista.

Mike had an infectious smile and laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved everyone equally and unconditionally. He had many friends and made each one feel special. Mike was a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and was an avid fan of the WWF and WWE and attended many live events. One of his cousins (and wrestler) commented, “Mike is heaven’s new heavyweight champion”. A title Mike would be honored to have.

Mike is survived by his parents Thomas Durfee (girlfriend Debbie Stuurman) of Escondido, CA. and Mary Burdick (fiancé David Odle) of Pauma Valley, CA; his sister Ashley (Justin) Gibbs of Escondido; niece Jaden and nephew Ryder, whom he adored, and stepsister Sydnee. Mike shared a special bond with his Grandma Fern Burdick of Duluth, MN. and held a special place in his heart for his aunts Nancy (Sonia), Lavonne (Jeff), Sue (Dale), Cyndi, Jill and Beth and uncles Scott (Tami), John (Mary), Mike (Chris), Tim and Pete (Karen). Mike valued his relationships with his many cousins and made each one feel like they were his favorite.

Michael has been reunited with his Grandma Gayle Rude, Grandfather John Durfee and cousins Scott and Sara Zubec.

A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held September 15, 2014, at 3:00 pm at NVC (New Vintage Church), 1300 S. Juniper Street in Escondido, CA.
