She worked as a cook for most of her life. She began cooking when she was eight years old and didn't really stop until she was about 80. She owned a restaurant and enjoyed providing wonderfully tasty food. Nona enjoyed both reading and writing poetry. She was an accomplished seamstress, making many of her own clothes. She liked to paint and practice cake decorating. Nona could grown anything and enjoyed gardening. She was especially proud of her rose bushes. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church for several years. It is there that she was baptized and rededicated to God.
Nona is survived by her loving family, Daughters and sons-in-law Joyce & Michael Smith of San Jacinto, CA.; Patricia & Lynn Kuhn of San Jacinto, CA; Sons Delvin Beatty and Derrel & Caroline Beatty all of San Jacinto, CA.; Stepdaughter Linda Hall; Stepson Benjamin Aunspaw Jr.; 12 Grandchildren, Carol, John, Robert, Rodney, Mark, Timothy, Daniel, Connie, Cheryl, Jim, Matthew and Jesse.; 15 Great-grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Aunspaw; Daughter Ella Mae Walker and her 8 siblings.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel McLeod chapel on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 from 11am to 1pm followed by a funeral service celebrated by Pastor Dale Garland. Interment will immediately follow the service at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido. Arrangements under the direction of Funeraria del Angel McLeod, Escondido, CA.
