Roger Wayne Gordon, 75, passed away at his home on April 17, 2021. Born in San Diego, October 1, 1945, he was a lifelong resident of Escondido. He was well known by many in the community. Roger is survived by his devoted son Matt Gordon, a daughter Stacy Gordon, and a grandson James Gordon – all of Escondido. He is pre-deceased by his parents Neil and Wilhelmina Gordon and his brother Neil Gordon.
Roger was a 1963 graduate of Escondido Union High School. He served in the Army National Guard for a period of time. Being a lifelong entrepreneur, he was successful in many different businesses, property venues, ventures, and investment opportunities. Never one to be satisfied doing just one thing at a time, he often was involved in several things at once. He owned and operated Gordon Sand for many years, and later operated A-1 Golf Carts until his retirement. Throughout his life, he spent a lot of time along Colorado and Salton Sea, which he continued to enjoy after retirement. Deep sea fishing was just one of his hobbies. In recent years, Roger enjoyed participating in Crusin’ Grand by driving his 1956 Chevy Pickup Truck. He also still possessed the 1955 Fairlane Station Wagon given to him by his grandfather.
Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park on Monday May 3rd at 2:30pm, where he will join his grandparents, parents, and brother. May he rest in peace.
