

Bell. He was the 6 of 8 children. Later the family moved to El Paso Texas. He was very active
in his younger years. Got is driving license at age 13. Sometimes went to work with his father
to help him out. Drove his mother to the store and wherever else she wanted to go. Attended
Douglas High School where he first met Margaret (wife) in grade school when he blooded
her nose. Another time she told him "If you were the last man on earth, I wouldn't marry
you." December 9, 2021 was their 65th Wedding Anniversary. In high school he was a Star in
football, basketball and track. Because the schools were integrated in 1955 he spent most of
his 12 grade at Jefferson high. Took graduation picture, but didn't graduate. Join the USMC in
December 1955. He made Pfc ( Private first class) and Bootcamp. Served in the Vietnam War.
Earned 3 Purple Hearts and received many certificates of good conduct and services. Received
his high school diploma while in service. His family sometimes traveled with him to different
stations. North Carolina, South Carolina, Hawaii and San Diego. Without family in Yuma. He
Retired as GySgt. Spent another time 20 year's as Diesel Mechanic. He attended city college for
this training. He enjoyed going to Salem Baptist Church where is brother ( Rev. Columbus Bell) preached.
Preceding in death' Father and Mother, 5 brothers' Eldridge, Will Oscar, Columbus, Eddie and
Leroy. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife Margaret, 2 daughters
Linda and Shirley and her husband Bob and a son Everett and a brother Robert and a sister Marie
and a host of family members. 11 grandchildren and 22 great grands. Not only was William a
tough and honorable marine, he was a loving devoted husband, father and a very good provider
for his family.
