

Fritz Gerald Houston passed away unexpectedly, on August 11, 2012 from heart failure in Eureka, California. He was born January 1, 1952 in Eureka, California. At the age of 2 years old, Fritz was afflicted with encephalitis that caused a life-long disability for him. His mother, Vera Houston, lovingly provided care for him until her untimely death in 2001. Since her death, he has been lovingly cared for in a group home in Eureka. Fritz has been preceded in death by his grandparents, Lottie Lee (Thompson) Hood and James Oscar Hood, Harry Thurell Houston and Lura Neva (Cole) Houston, his parents Vera Ladeen (Hood) Houston and Lloyd William Houston and his brothers, Charles Ray Houston, Richard Lee Houston, and Barry Dale Houston. Fritz is survived by his oldest brother William Glenn Houston, his niece Heather (Houston) Kreier, his nephews Matthew Houston, David Houston, Jason Houston and Jeremy Houston. Fritz loved the song "Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog" and his favorite food was Rocky Road ice cream, he loved feeding the animals at his group home. When he went to the beach he liked to sit at the beach and watch others strolling along the sand. He was a happy and kind man and our family will miss him very much. Our family would like to thank all those people and institutions throughout his life who contributed to his to his education, safety and well being.
