
Born June 23, 1942 passed away April 1, 2011. Hank was born to Edna and Henry Fischer in Santa Rosa, California. Hank's family moved to Bayside when he was five, into a home built by Hank's father. Hank attended local schools including graduating from Arcata High School in 1960. He immediately joined the Coast Guard; upon his discharge he attended Santa Rosa Junior College then Humboldt State University. While at Humboldt State he was a member of the 1968 Camilla Bowl Championship football team. Upon leaving Humboldt State, Hank fished commercially and eventually became a correctional officer in the California State Prison system working at San Quentin and Pelican Bay. After retiring from the prison system he worked for Mercer Frasier and then for the Pacific Maritime Association/International Longshore & Warehouse Union as a very proud "A Man". Hank passed away unexpectedly on his boat while working for PMA doing two of the things he loved, driving his boat around the Humboldt Bay and working for PMA. He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, the ocean and animals, especially his cats. Hank was married to his "Honey Buns" Frannie Fischer for almost 13 years. He also leaves behind his mother Mrs. Edna Fischer; his children daughter Cyndi Fischer (Spencer Griffith), son Jamey Fischer; and his incredible grandchildren Clara, Molly, Riley and Jovie. Hank also leaves behind his sister Jill Galles (Stewart Galles) and several nieces and nephews. Hank was preceded in death by his father Henry Fischer Sr. and his brother James Fischer. A celebration of Hank's life will be held on Thursday April 7th at the Elk's Lodge from Noon to 4PM.
