Alfreda "Freda" M. Wells

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary on July 31, 2021, with her husband Vernon. Feisty is a word that one always uses when thinking of Freda. Everyone should have an Aunt Freda. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Freda worked as a waitress in various restaurants in Evansville and she enjoyed cooking and traveling. She was passionate about spending time with her family and was always willing to help her family and friends.

Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Wells (2022); sister, Jean Britt; and brother, William Batson.

She was survived by her son, Barry Wells; sisters, Tina Chappell of Evansville, IN and Mae McCloud of Davenport, FL; and brother, Ernest (Anna) Batson of Cypress, TX. She is also survived many nieces and nephews; many she babysat and spoiled them all.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714 with Pastor Chad M. Eckels officiating. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/funeralstreamUSA beginning at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery.
