Obituary of Alma Lee (Lamb) Beck
Alma was born January 27, 1919 in Patesville, KY and on December 9, 2019, just over one month short of her 101st birthday, died peacefully at Hamilton Pointe Health and Rehab in Newburgh, Indiana of natural causes with her granddaughters by her side. She had two sisters who she was very close to and who she loved to “get into trouble” with. She loved to go out with her sisters and dance and loved to play her guitar. She married in 1939 to James Beck and in the years to come had 5 children. She was a very strong and independent woman, doing countless things in life on her own for many years. She loved and valued each and every one of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Family was very important to her. Alma loved her soda, as well as beer, sweets, and fried chicken. She loved to feed her family, if you visited her, her number one concern was to feed you, it was one of her greatest joys as with many grandmothers. She was known for her style and her love of hats and shoes, she never had too many. As she grew older she loved to watch TV and read the newspaper and magazines. She lived on her own independently until she was 98 years old. Anyone who met Alma described her as a sweet, kind, and very funny. She was also called spunky at times. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ethel Lamb; husband, James Beck; sister, Wanda West; son-in-law, Walter (Curly) Burks. She is survived by her five children, Myrna Burks (Walter), James Beck Jr. (Georgia), Brenda Hall (William), George Beck (Doris) and Donald Beck; sister, Georgia Stover; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2019 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Garry Lanham with burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
