

Anna M. Laster-Suggs, 68, of Evansville, IN passed away Friday, March 22, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway. She was born in Evansville, IN on October 29, 1955, to the late Charles Wesley and Edna Pearl Suggs.
After graduating from North High School, Anna attended Vincennes University where she was a cheerleader. She also competed in Miss Indiana Black Expo where she was in the top five. She met her first husband in 1972 and after he served in the military, they were married and moved to DC. They became foster parents and even adopted their daughter, Tyanna in 1993. Her 1st husband passed and she moved back to Evansville.
During the following years, she owned a candy shop, started a double dutch team, and volunteered heavily in her community. In 2002, she met and married Samuel Carter. They remained together for 22 years.
Anna was a lover of life and family. She did so many wonderful and exciting things. She was a plus size model, a foster mother, a foster grandparent, a Librarian, and during Ramadan, she served people food from her grill in the front yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Charles “Bubba” Suggs.
Anna is survived by her husband, Samuel Carter; daughter Tyanna Salami (Folubi); sisters, Denise Sellers, Charlotte Suggs, Anntonette Suggs, Loretta White, Calasha Posey, Sandra Smith and Faye Suggs; brothers: Anthony Suggs, Larry Suggs, Terry Suggs and Loran Suggs; grandchildren, Quran Salami and Faheem Salami.
