Our loving mother Barbara Fox Metz Malcolm passed from this life to her eternal home on 4/24 /2022 surrounded by her five children. Barbara was born October 2, 1930 to Paul & Geneva Worth. She married Cullen Fox on 11/28/1946 in Maywood, Illinois.
Together they had six children, Barbara enjoyed being a Brownie Troop Leader and working at Lively’s Music & Garrett’s Music Store in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Barbara’s most rewarding job was her many years of service to the HeadStart program at Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Barbara went on to earn her Certificate in Gerontology from Wabash Valley College in 1983.
Her many interests were music, playing canasta, pinochle, shopping trips to Brown County, pontoon boat rides, and hosting fish frys with Cullen at Mesa Lake outside of Mt Carmel, Illinois.
Her later years were spent in Evansville, Indiana where she volunteered at hospitals and met and later married F. Murl Metz. Following his death, she re-connected with a former classmate from Mt Carmel, Robert Malcolm RPhD. They enjoyed 24 years of marriage including trips to Hawaii, The Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls and many other exciting places.
Barbara was Grandmother, Great Grandmother & Great Great Grandmother to many who hold her memory in high regard.
Barbara & Robert were residents of North River Health Campus in Evansville, Indiana prior to his death in January 2022.
Following a short illness, Barbara was admitted to Deaconess Gateway & then to the Linda E. White Hospice.
Barbara is survived by sons, Dr. Craig (Jerry) Fox spouse (Thomas Root) and Larry Fox; daughters, Karen Billings spouse (Savine), Sheri Holder spouse (Billy) and Susan Lamb spouse (Larry).
She was predeceased by son Gregory Robert Fox, husbands Cullen J Fox, Forrest Murl Metz, and Robert Malcolm.
The family would like to thank North River Health Campus, Deaconess Gateway Hospital and Linda E. White Hospice for the wonderful compassionate care they extended to our Mother.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Rod Hoschouer. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, IL.
