He was a retired minister serving Bakers Chapel UMC and retired from the University of Evansville. Bennett was a member of Central United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the US class. He was a Kentucky Colonel, an avid UK basketball fan and fisherman.
Bennett was preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, Juanita Mullins, and five siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Mullins; son, Gary Mullins and wife Cindy; daughter, Karen Jones and husband Connell; grandchildren, Lisa Mullins McDaniel, Brandon Mullins, Jamie Jones, Emily Jones; and seven siblings.
Services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, April 18, 2011 at Central United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Joe Easley with burial at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Central United Methodist Church or Habitat for Humanity.
