

Bethel Lee Giesman, 87, of Evansville, IN, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016, surrounded by her family, at Deaconess VNA Plus Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville. She was born March 19, 1929, in Evansville, IN, to the late Arthur and Flora Becker.
She graduated from Central High School, class of 1947. She married Charles R. (Dick) Giesman on May 6, 1950, and they were married for 64 years. She began working as a Kindergarten Assistant at Fairlawn Elementary School in 1958, and later became school secretary until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed music and was a talented pianist, playing for various Fairlawn School activities and also for weddings. After retirement, she and Dick enjoyed many years at Lake Barkley and Sarasota, FL.
Bethel was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ed, Delmar and Warren Becker; sister, Eloise Coomes; and husband, Charles R. Giesman in 2014.
She is survived by sons, Charles B. (Paula) and Thomas R. (Cheryl); daughter, Lee Ann Newman (Eric); 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and her dog, “Sassy.”
The family would like to thank her caretaker, Donna Lampton, and the staff at Charlier Hospice Center for their compassionate care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Alexander East Chapel with entombment at Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit 3-7 PM, Tuesday, and 9:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess VNA Plus Charlier Hospice Center.
