Betty Jean Griffis, 91, of Evansville, IN passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024. She was born in Springfield, Illinois on September 2, 1932, to the late Charlie and Emma (Kern) Paul, Sr.
Betty was a registered nurse. She taught at Deaconess School of Nursing and ended her career as a Deaconess Representative at USI. She enjoyed music, reading and her family. Betty was a founding member of Saint Luke Lutheran Church and served our community as a proud member of Altrusa.
Betty is survived by her children, Yonnie C. (Bill) Pope, Stephanie K. Johnson, Brad C. (Erin) Griffis; grandchildren; Natalie (Seth) Lockman, Craig (Amanda) Pope, Brandon (Jayne) Griffis, Matthew Johnson; ten great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Cookie) Cook and Helen Paul; nieces, Janet Mullins, Karen Lewis, Kathy (Mike) Zander, Dawn, Shannon and Desirea; and cousin, Lil Grisham.
A funeral service was held privately at Alexander East Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke Lutheran Church.
