Betty graduated from Reitz High School in 1950. She retired from Atlas Van Lines. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, a collector of many things salt & pepper shakers, vases, glassware, recipes, cookbooks, pottery, cookie jars, pitchers, avon, stamps, postcards, records and Elvis memorabilia. Betty loved the Antique Roadshow, Perry Mason, Grand Ole Opry, the Gaithers, country and gospel music. She traveled to spend time with family and friends; and enjoyed taking vacations after Christmas. She attended all church activities, volunteering food, games, and other activities. Betty also enjoyed bird watching.
She was preceded in death by her parents Katie and John Henry Bell; husbands, Carroll Lambert and Robert Hayden; brother, Donald Bell; sons-in-law, Ed Leistner, Wm. “Bill” Shepherd; brother in-law, Jackie Strouse.
Betty is survived by her sister, Henrietta Strouse; children, Cynthia Leistner, Brenda Lambert Keeling, Terri Shepherd; grandchildren, Jason Kennada, Katie (Chris) Hosack, Matthew (Katie) Shepherd, Lauren (Trent) Jones, Nathan (Rebecka) Shepherd, Jennifer (Andy) Esparza and Michael (Megan) Leistner.; great grandchildren, Kyrstin and Kinley Hosack, Lawrence and Maggie Shepherd, Grant Esparza, Landon, Rowan, and Jaelin Leistner; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome Foundation, P.O. Box 6723 Florence, KY 41022; Grace Baptist Church, and/or the American Heart Association.
Friends and family may visit 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Alexander Memorial Park Chapel, 2200 Mesker Park Dr. Evansville, IN 47720, officiated by Pastor Brian Turpin.
