Betty J. (Stroud) Carr

Betty J. (Stroud) Carr, 80, passed away, Monday, October 28, 2013, at her home in Evansville, IN. She retired from the State Hospital after 21 years. She attended Terrace Park General Baptist Church. Betty loved spending time with her family, reading, doing cross-stitch, and watching her Pacers games. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Edward Carr; mother, Wanetta Wright; father, Paul Stroud; and grandson, Andrew Elschide. Betty is survived by daughters, Kathy Leach (Gary), Escalon, CA, Cheryl Schmahlenberger (Tony), Evansville, IN, Gay Elschide (Dennis), Beech Grove, IN; granddaughters, Sarah Jackson (Courtney), Ashley Stoneberger (Chris); grandsons, Jason Schmahlenberger (Laura), Erik Boger (Lisa), Ryan Elschide (Wendy), Chris Elschide (Liberty); and 8 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Deaconess Hospice for their loving care and compassion. Services will be 11:00AM, Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Alexander North Chapel officiated by Rev. Robert Carr with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday, October 30, 2013, from 3:00PM until 8:00PM and Thursday from 10:00AM until service time at the funeral home.
