Bettye L Mears

Bettye L. Mears, 85, of Evansville, IN passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Heritage Center. She was born on August 16, 1933. Bettye was a long-time member of Asbury Methodist Church and later became a member of Westwood Church. She especially loved teaching childrens Sunday School. She had a tremendous faith. Bettye had a gift from God to give to and nurture others. She had a deep love for all of God’s creations, including animals, flowers and nature. Bettye retired from Windsor Plastics after over 25 years. She was preceded in death by the mother who raised her, Eura (Dossett) Lively Ungetheum; father, August Ungetheum; birth mother, Lydia (Hahn) Ungetheum. Bettye is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Mears; sister, Virginia Dartt; nieces, Connie Romain (Ron) and Vicki (Dartt) Breivogel (Randy); nephews, Dale Dartt (Ladonna), Carey W. Mears, Tracey D. Mears, all of Evansville and Scott Matarrese (Jenny) of Lexington, KY; great nieces and great nephews, Amy Barron (Josh), Jeff Romain, April Johnson (Lee), Kevin Dartt (Amanda), Joshua and Tim Breivogel. Bettye’s family extends a special thank you to the staffs at Heritage Center and Heritage Hospice for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2019 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Dave Teruel with entombment to follow at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and Friday 9 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Westwood Church, 121 S.
