

Bev was born on May 31, 1931, in Evansville, to Clara Elizabeth (Stuteville) Fox and Ervin (“Pete”) Fox. Pete was a major league baseball player for the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox. She had younger brother, Jimmy E. Fox, who preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of the 1949 Class at Bosse High School and was a life-long resident of Evansville. She married John A. Markey in 1960, which ended in divorce in 1985. They had one son, Stephen A. Markey of Denver, Colorado.
Bev enjoyed gardening, fashion, tennis and running as well as jazz and pop music. She was accomplished in the decorative arts evidenced by her beautiful homes where she loved to entertain friends. With John, she enjoyed traveling overseas including a visit to the Soviet Union during the cold war. She was a volunteer at the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center and at St. Mary’s Hospital. Bev loved helping her friends when in need. She will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to her son, Stephen, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sara; and four grandchildren, William, David, Frances and Caroline, all of Denver, Colorado.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Alexander Funeral Home, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, followed promptly by a memorial service. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
