After high school, Bonnie moved to Evansville, Indiana to attend Lockyear’s Business College, to acquire business management and secretarial skills, and she quickly became a manager for the O’Daniel-Ranes car rental agency. Bonnie was very versatile, later working as a bank teller, a tech secretary for St. Mary’s Pathology lab, and as a real estate financial manager.
Bonnie’s passions in life included dancing … while taking lessons at Arthur Murray, she met her beloved husband of 62 years, Martin, who passed in 2012. Bonnie was also very active at East Side Christian Church, where she served as a Deacon and as an Elder, and sang in the choir. Bonnie was quite the culinary aficionado, loved cooking and serving, and often provided food for church activities and neighbors in times of need. She was a bridge Golden Age Master player, and loved playing numerous other games, especially with family. She excelled at Scrabble, even at age 97.
In 2017, Bonnie moved to a senior residence in Saint Petersburg, Florida, where she remained very active with many new friends. During the 2020 “shutdown” Bonnie co-founded a daily support/social group, which to this day remains very active and much-admired.
Bonnie is survived by daughters Gayle (Dave) Thurston and Lisa (Bruce) Casteel, sons Bradley (Rhona) Mount and Lawrence (Kelly) Mount; seven grandchildren: Jonathan (Jen) Wainman, Amy Martin, Eric (Jin) Thurston, Allison (Matthew) Rodgers, Alex Casteel, Sarah and Brian Mount; and ten great grandchildren: Jack and Seth Wainman, Drew and Charlie Martin, Micah, Ezra, Ruth, and Isaac Rodgers, and Benjamin and Luke Thurston.
