Obituary of Brenda Long
Let the memory live with us forever Brenda, it's hard to think of her in the past, is my best friend. When we got married on 5/20/1977, I felt I found my soulmate and discovered over these +45 years that it was true. We enjoyed, appreciated and valued the same things; family, friends, travel, diversity, different experiences, unity, equality, environmental and wildlife appreciation. The list continues on with good food, restaurants, sports, music, movies, art, history, reading, flower gardening, bird feeding, and volunteering to help those in need. Of course, a number of those things, Brenda, excelled more than I. We moved several times which resulted in experiencing different locations. It was always fun to explore our surroundings. On 6/22/1983, Andrew was born which made us proud parents of a wonderful son. He was able to grow up with his brothers, Jeff and Joe. We enjoyed good times together as a family. Brenda was born on 11/13/1953 in Emerson, NE. She grew up with her parents, Ray and Florence Jordan, and her sisters, Carolyn, Tish, Paula, Linda, Rosemary, Pat, Kathy, Joyce, and Virginia. After completing Emerson High School, she moved to Norfolk, NE., where she continued her education at the Norfolk Community College. She was employed at the Norfolk Police Department and that is where we met. Brenda has always been a very sweet, loving, and caring person. She was always concerned about and had compassion of others. During this last year, it was great to be with Brenda, while she was able to be with Kris & Jeff and their children & mates; Justin & Nikaya, Matt, Tesslyn & Demetrius. During this time, they were involved with numerous activities, gardening, canning, bees, watching movies (Freddy Mercury), listening to her favorite music; Elvis, CCR, BTO, Queen, Waylon & Willie, etc., visiting Donut Bank, Culver's for Ice Cream, and watching her favorite TV shows; Little House on the Prairie and Everybody Loves Raymond. I sincerely appreciate the love and support of everyone who helped us move to Evansville, IN., Joe & Naomi, Linda & Bart and Carolyn & Bob. People always enjoyed being around Brenda. She was intelligent and thoughtful. She was also a great listener and when people would talk with her they got to see her wonderful smile and listen to her laugh. Brenda's beauty, sense of humor, smile, and laugh made her unforgettable. On 2/25/21, she departed, but, she will continue to live on in our hearts and minds. She will never be forgotten. I'm sure you all have loving and fond memories of Brenda. Please feel free to share those memories and photos. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Alexander East Chapel with Pastor Jeff Long officiating.
