

Burtie retired from Welborn Hospital after 25 years of service, where she loved taking care of the babies on Welborn Pediatric Ward. She was a member of Faith Church of the Nazarene and taught Sunday School for many years.
She loved her family, cooking, going to church and singing. She loved people and would care for her friends and the elderly. She was a “precious” lady to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by George Ward; sister, Kathleen Putnam; brothers, Burton, Louis, Angus, Jerry, and William Ice.
Burtie is survived by her daughters, Sheila Jones (Charles) of Midwest City, OK; Linda Bays (Richard) of Henderson; Cathy West (Michael) of Evansville; Cynthia Paton (Jeff) of Kuna, Idaho; Janet Ward of Evansville; grandchildren, Melissa Ward, Carrie Bays, Daniel Bays, Brandon Utley, Angie Bays, Christopher Bays, Christina Shelton, Andrew Gadau, Raven Fickas; great-grandchildren, Codi Ward, Alishia Gish, Christian Gish, Braedon Utley, Avery Bays, Micah Shelton, and Elijah Shelton; sister, Shirley Marlette; brothers, Ray, Curtis, and Rev. Michael Ice.
Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, March 8, 2010, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Glen Phol and Rev. Michael Ice with burial at Tupman Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
