She worked at Methodist Temple Children’s Center for 30 years. As director, she helped expand the child care center and oversaw a major remodeling expansion to the center before retiring. Camilla touched the lives of many families in the community. She was also instrumental in the opening of several other child care facilities in the Tri-State area. One center in particular was the Ark Crisis Child Care Center, where she served on the board for many years. She was actively involved in the early Childhood Community and 4C of Southern Indiana (Building Blocks of Southern Indiana). Camilla volunteered for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital. She enjoyed playing clabber and watching the St. Louis Cardinals and IU Basketball.
Camilla was preceded in death by her husband whom she was married to for 49 years, W.L. “Brow” Blackford (2004); her parents; son, Kent Blackford; and brother, Noble Chapman.
She is survived by her son, Stan Blackford (Rozanna); daughter, Vanessa Wolter (David); sons, Kurt Blackford (Brenda) and Lance Blackford; grandchildren, Ashlee Rizen (Cameron), Hannah Shoulders (Jordan), Ryan Wolter (Sophie LeBlanc), Caitlin Blackford, and Aaron Fink; great-grandchildren, Michael Shoulders, Grady Rizen, Garner Rizen, Andrew Fink, and Corrine Fink; sister, Rebecca Hampton (Darrel); and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Alexander East Chapel with Pastor Randy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Cemetery in Grayville, Illinois. Friends may visit on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
