

Originally from York, South Carolina, Candace was raised in Evansville. She graduated from Bosse HS, studied at Hanover, and earned her MA from U of E. She then taught 38 years as a special education teacher in the South Gibson School Corp. While teaching, she was an active supporting member of the NEA, and researched and supported students with autism. Candace volunteered with the Komen Foundation for ten years. She was also a member of the Methodist Temple. Candace loved traveling, tatting, crocheting, reading, spending time with family, and the Yankees.
Candace was preceded in death by her father, Franklin S. Moore, and a very special grandmother, Mamie Martin.
Candace is survived by her husband, Robert C. Schenk; mother, Vivian M. Williams, both of Evansville; son, John R. Schenk of Eldersburgh, MD; daughter, Alyssa (John) Healy; grandchildren, Kathryn C. and Tyghe R. Healy, all of East Greenwich, RI; and brother, Frank (Janine) Moore of Newburgh.
Memorial service will be 3:00 PM Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Alexander North Chapel. Friends may visit Sunday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
