Betty was a graduate of Aiken (SC) High School.
She was the church secretary at St. John’s UMC in Batesburg for over 25 years and longtime member of the choir.
Betty enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed making girls’ fashion clothing and doll clothes.
She attended Old North UMC in Evansville, Indiana and resided at the Rathbone Home for four years and most recently Bethel Manor for the past two-and one-half years.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Leon E. Matthews.
She is survived by daughter, Leanna Thomas and son, Al Matthews.
Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2012, at St. John’s UMC, officiated by Rev. Steven King, with burial in Ridge Crest Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from
6-8PM at Barr-Price Funeral Home.
