

Carolyn (Purdue) McCarty Wiley-Bloss, 85, of Newburgh, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016, at Hamilton Pointe. She was born January 26, 1931, in Evansville, to the late Pyeatt A. and Edith (Bundy) Purdue.
She was a medical receptionist and patient assistant at Bryant A. Bloss Orthopedics and a lifetime member of the former Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught children’s Sunday school, sang in the choir, and served on various committees through the years. She loved and devoted her life to caring for her children and grandchildren (and all of their friends), demonstrating the love of Jesus her Lord that flowed freely from within her.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her first husband of 18 years, F. James McCarty; second husband of 14 years, Craig M. Wiley; third husband of three years, Bryant A. Bloss; parents; sister, Louise Gerbetz; son-in-law, Jeff Gibson; and great-grandson, Jaron Todd.
She is survived by her daughters, Dianna Gibson and Gayle (Dan) Todd; son, James “Russell” (Lee Ann) McCarty; sister, Mary (Rev. David Sr.) Board; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2016, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Daniel B. Sigler, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
