Carson Joseph Helmling

Carson was born on May 24, 1992, in Dallas, Texas, and was raised on the West Side of Evansville and in Tennyson, Indiana.

Carson worked as an industrial cleaner, lovingly known in his line of work as a “water baby.” He was passionate about his work and took great pride in what he did.

Above all else, Carson was a devoted father to his four precious children, Alexa, Carson Jr., Silas C., and Karissa Janine Helmling. His children were his entire world. He loved taking them on bike rides, walking along the river, and spending time making memories with them.

Carson had a deep love for nature. He was happiest outdoors, whether strolling through the woods, exploring, or simply enjoying the beauty around him. He had a generous heart and never hesitated to help someone in need. He would take sleeping bags and tents to homeless people in his neighborhood simply because he wanted to help and believed that everyone deserved kindness and compassion.

Carson was a firm believer in our Lord and Savior and was deeply dedicated to his faith. He was also fiercely protective of the people he loved. He was one of the bravest souls you could ever meet when it came to standing up for his family and the people closest to his heart.

Those who knew Carson will remember his kindness, generosity, and especially his infectious laugh. When Carson was laughing, you knew whatever he was laughing at was truly funny. He had a way of bringing joy and laughter into the lives of the people around him.

Carson is preceded in death by his mother, Samantha Ray, and his grandfather, Charles “Buster” Ray.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his four children, Alexa, Carson Jr., Silas C., and Karissa Janine Helmling; his fiancée, Micheala Curtis; his father, Darwin Helmling Jr.; his brother, Darwin Helmling III; his aunts, Tamala Helmling Ubelhor and Sheila Helmling Timmons (Darren); uncles, Randy Helmling (Cindy) and Steve Helmling (Debi) and Michael Helmling (Rhonda); uncles, Travis Ray (Kristen) and Charlie Ray (Alice); and his mother’s lifelong friend like his second mom, Verna Smith.

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Charlotte, Skylar, and Kaiden Lee; his maternal grandmother, Joe Ann Ray; his cousins, Brandon Ray, Nathan Ray, and Kellen Rohlman; along with his many close friends and loved ones.

Carson’s life may have been far too short, but the love he gave, the memories he created, and the lives he touched will remain forever. His love for his fiancée and her love for him was unconditional.

His children were his world. His family was his strength. His faith was a part of who he was. And his kindness will never be forgotten.

Carson’s favorite color was purple 💜, a small detail that will forever remind those who loved him of the beautiful spirit he carried with him.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has shown love, prayers, kindness, and support during this difficult time.

Carson's celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Howell General Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1520 Delmar Avenue, Evansville IN, 47712.

Fellowship will continue following the service until 3:00 pm.
