He retired from Indiana Bell Telephone Co. in 1985 after 32 years of service. Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War and was a life member of VFW 2953. He was a member of House of Prayer. He loved fishing.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Galloway McKendree; and granddaughter, Crystal D. McKendree.
He is survived by daughter, Debarah Turner (Brian) of Evansville, IN; son, Charles “Butch” McKendree, III of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Randall Nance and Stacey Nance; great-grandchildren, Uzziah G. McKendree, Annabelle Nance, Jacob Barnwell, Peyton Nance, and Ace Nance; sisters, Lorene Shreve of Morganfield, KY, Jean Groves of Mt. Vernon, IN; and brother, Bill McKendree of Orlando, FL.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, September 16, 2016, at Alexander East Chapel with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit 4-8 on Thursday at the funeral home.
