Charles Pappas

Charles Pappas, 94, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at his home. He was born December 8, 1923 in Leming, TX to the late Pablo and Angelita (Aguilar) Paez. He was a WWII veteran of the US Air force. His family will always happily remember the story of Charles meeting his wife. He worked at a candy store for a Greek gentleman. The man gave him the choice of his three nieces and he chose Antonia. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Antonia Pappas; brothers, Martin and Cleofas Paez, and sisters, Magdelina Nightingale and Loranza Wells. He is survived by sisters, Adelfina Hargett ( Jerry), Rafaela Haneline and Isabel Gomez, and nephew, John Yatras. Friends may visit Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 1-3:00PM at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, with a Funeral Service at 3:00PM., officiated by Pastor Jerry I. Hargett. Friends may visit Wednesday from 1:00PM until service time. Burial will take place in Mt. Peace Cemetery, Akron, OH at 2:30PM EST to 3:00 PM EST, Thursday, June 7, 2018.
