

Charles “Jay” Sala, age 62, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024, at Heart to Heart Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Baltimore, MD, on July 27, 1962, Jay was the son of the late Josephine Charlotte (Busick) Sala and Charles Salvatore Sala.
Jay was a proud graduate of Patterson High School in Baltimore and dedicated 25 years to his role as Team Lead at Toyota Logistic Services. A man of many passions, Jay found joy in playing guitar, camping, cheering for the Ravens, and most of all, spending quality time with his grandchildren. He had a unique ability to appreciate life’s simple pleasures, like smelling his roses every day.
Jay is survived by his devoted wife, Stephanie Roeder Sala; his children, Rob Sala (Amber) and Justin Sala (Cassie); his bonus children, Michele Nix (Lila) and Audrey Bush (Tommy); and his adoring grandchildren, Karter, Nash, Margot Sala, Alexis and Brooks Bush, and Amaya Roth. He is also survived by his siblings, Donna Lazzaro (Joey) and Charlotte Shanley (Richard); his sisters-in-law, Shannon Johnson (Gary) and Shirley Tillman (Ron); his brother-in-law, Kendel Roeder (Lisa); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and his lifelong friend, Mike Smith.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN. A second visitation will take place on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 9:00 am until the service at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s UCC German Township, 8701 Big Cynthiana Road, Evansville, with final resting place to follow at the church cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Oncology and Infusion staff at Deaconess Hospital and Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care.
