

Charles Franklin Thornton, Sr., 70, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Select Specialty Hospital. He was born August 3, 1944, in Evansville, to the late Virgil and Imogene (France) Thornton.
Charles loved keeping busy and had a perpetual need to work. He was always working and did so until he was no longer able. He loved riding motorcycles and bicycles and driving his little red convertible and loved playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Hadi Shriners Temple and Reed Lodge #316.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Thornton; and granddaughter, Kira Thornton.
He is survived by his children, Charles (Robbin) Thornton, Jr., Shannon (Megan) Thornton, Damon Thornton, and Angela Ramage; grandchildren, Krystal Thornton, Ann Lockwood, Dylan, Conner, Danielle, Charlene and Shannon, Jr. Thornton, Chad, and Nicole Thornton, Damon Weilder, Jerry Rosser, Vivian (Justin) Long, and Robin (Greg) Edson; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 10:00 AM Monday, June 15, 2015, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Pastor Tom Toach, with entombment in Oak Hill Mausoleum. Friends visited Sunday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Monday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
