

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Harold D. Thompson; parents; sisters; Sheila McKnight and Diana McKnight; brother, Hugh McKnight (Sally).
Charlotte is survived by her son, David P. Thompson (Sharon) of Lake Zurich, IL; daughters, Susan Latham (David) of Henderson, KY, Gail Merrill (John) of Bloomington, IN, and Jeannette Oakley (Rick) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Victor L. Thompson, Andrea Pajauskas, Angela Barnett, Joshua, Marie, and Annie Latham, Jessica Campbell, Alissa Floyd, and Elaine Hammel; 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was born in Lincoln, NE where she met her loving husband, Harold. They moved to Southern Indiana and settled in Evansville in 1956 where they raised their four children. Charlotte worked as a secretary for a number of years, a majority of which were as a legal secretary. She was named Evansville Legal Secretary of the Year. Charlotte’s love of color and texture led her to open her own interior decorating company, The Decorator’s Eye. Charlotte and Harold were involved in several bridge groups with friends, and Charlotte remained an active bridge player after Harold’s death. In retirement, she and Harold traveled widely and camped throughout the US and Canada. Charlotte and Harold were longtime, very active, and dedicated members of Old North United Methodist Church. She loved her Old North family and remained active there into her 90's. Charlotte was an intelligent, strong-willed and independent woman who took pride in and had great love for her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday April 9, 2022 at Old North UMC, 4201 Stringtown Rd., Evansville, IN, officiated by Rev. Gary Schaar, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Old North.
