

Cheryl dedicated 40 years of service as a customer service representative for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. In her free time, she enjoyed watching sports, especially college basketball, and was a devoted fan of Indiana University. Cheryl also liked to watch the Indianapolis Colts and had a fondness for classic old movies. She found joy in cooking for those she loved. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Lee and Mary Elizabeth McKissic; sisters, Zora Miller, Pauline Hopson, and Bettye Jackson; brothers, William McKissic; James McKissic, Frank McKissic, and Mike McKissic.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Whitney McKissic; grandson, John “JJ” Porter; granddaughter, Sophie Porter; and sister, Sue Allen (James Richard); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714, officiated by Rev. Gerald Arnold, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends and family may visit on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
