

Chester K. “Chet” Winstead, 88, of Evansville, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016, at Park Terrace Village. He was born February 15, 1928, in Sebree, KY, to the late Roy H. and Gladys (Buchannan) Winstead.
He graduated from Reitz High School in 1946 and was an avid Reitz High School football fan. Chet worked at Whirlpool, Lewis Allis and Faultless Caster as a machinist. He enjoyed working on cars, loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and played basketball and baseball. He was his granddaughters, Andi and Lacy, number one fan and loved watching them run track and play volleyball for Mater Dei, the University of Evansville, and Indiana State University. He also loved listening to his grandson, Scott, sing.
Chet was preceded in death by his brother, Roy L. Winstead; grandparents, Paul and Cora Buchannan; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Bessie (Gooch) Winstead; son, Tony L. (Debbie) Winstead; daughter, Paula (Don) Haller; grandchildren, Scott (Charlene) Winstead, Andrea (Chris) Hibbard and Lacy (Jeff) Bender; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Skyler Winstead, Phoenix and Zoe Hibbard, and Cora Bender; and brothers, Bill (Barb) Winstead and Bob (Yvonne) Winstead.
Funeral services were held 12:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2016, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Pastor Terry Gamblin. Friends visited Thursday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Friday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff of Park Terrace Village for their compassion and willingness to go above and beyond for Bessie and the entire family, and their loving care of Chester.
