Clara Jean was a retired daycare provider and homemaker. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Evansville. The last two years of Clara Jean’s life were spent in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She lived near the Western Kentucky University Campus, she loved to watch the college kids going to class and the white squirrels in her yard. Her family, “Babysitting Kids” and old friends in Evansville were always in her thoughts. She would talk fondly about her time in Arizona when the kids were young, her roses, the neighbors that she loved, Notre Dame Football, working at Sears and attending Central High School. She never lost her smile.
Clara Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee Sears and her brother, Charles Alvey.
She is survived by her brother, Sylvester Alvey of Evansville; sons, Jim Sears (Sarah) of Bowling Green, Kentucky, David Sears (Amy) of Washington, Illinois; daughters, Elizabeth Hill of Evansville, Debbie Healey (John) of Omaha, Nebraska. Clara Jean was also blessed with thirteen grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church 100 East Michigan Street. Friends may visit 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church. A graveside gathering will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery at 1305 North St Joseph Avenue.
