

During WWII, she served as a “Rosie the Riveter”. She worked at St. Mary’s for 35 years as a nurse’s aide, then for another 5 years as an information clerk. Jewell loved making crochet lap robes and enjoyed reading, puzzle books, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Jewell was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Norvell, in 1994; brothers, Robert and Glover Ellis; and sister, Alice Winstead.
She is survived by her children, Michael (June) Norvell, Sue Barber, Marsha (Ronnie) Phelps, Norman (Brenda Mickel) Norvell and Ron (Gail) Norvell; grandchildren, Bruce and Tiffany Barber; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Aiden.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Saturday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
