

Cleatus Ray Mason, 82, of Chandler, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at The Charlier Hospice Center at Deaconess VNA Plus. He was born October 2, 1932, in Evansville, to the late Thomas T. and Ruby (Sizemore) Mason.
He worked at Whirlpool for over 40 years as an inspection and repairman, retiring in 1992. He was a Korean War Veteran, stationed in Germany. He drove a jeep for many officers, most importantly a four star general. He was a member of the Chandler United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1114. He attended many antique car shows, was a member of the Mopar Club, and owned a 1957 Plymouth and a 1966 Plymouth convertible. He enjoyed gardening and working out in the yard. In his youth he farmed with this father.
Cleatus was preceded in death by his parents and 15 sisters and brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Silvia J. (Lindsey) Mason; sons, Cleatus DeWayne (Beverly) Mason and Daniel Ray (Joyce) Mason; grandchildren, Jessica Boyer, Tosha Hutcheison, Adam Mason, Jade Mason, Tommy Jones, Chris Jones, and Jessie Schofield; great-grandchildren, Violet Walterhouse and Gracie Hutcheison; brothers, Thomas Mason and Gary Mason; and sister, Rhetta Bea Moore.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 3, 2015, at Chandler United Methodist Church, 127 South State Street, Chandler, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Friday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
