

He was a minister for 50 years, 24 years with Scott Township, six years at Pleasant Chapel and currently is a member of Howell General Baptist Church. He preached at the Rescue Mission every Tuesday for many years. He also helped at Camp Brosend in Newburgh for children for nine summers. He loved to garden, had a corn patch, and would always leave corn on his neighbors’ porch.
Rev. Holtsclaw was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Simmons; parents; six brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Neva Holtsclaw; daughters, Carla Jukes and Jerry Ann (Jon) Ritchey of OK; son-in-law, Gary Simmons; grandchildren, Steven (Stacy) Ritchey, David (Michelle) Ritchey, Mary Keel, Larry (Susan) Jukes, Simi (Darrell) Poe and Jamie Simmons; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Howell General Baptist Church, 1520 Delmar Avenue, officiated by Rev. Terry Gamblin, with burial in Marshall’s Ferry Cemetery in Rising Sun, Illinois. Friends may visit Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 West Illinois Street.
