Daniel Wayne Barton, Sr.

Daniel Wayne Barton, Sr., 76, of Evansville, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 19, 2015, while surrounded by his family at his home. He was born October 3, 1938, in Evansville, to the late Harold C. and Edna M. (Tate) Barton.

He attended grade school at County School #6 and was a 1956 graduate of Reitz High School. He married Patricia Ann Ransom on October 26, 1956, and they shared the next 58 years and eight months together. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Daniel enjoyed woodworking, NASCAR, and gardening. He retired from Whirlpool after 34 years.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Franklin Lee Barton; son, Daniel W. Barton, Jr.; and granddaughter, Jennifer Market.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Kenneth (Debbie) Barton of Chandler and Jay Bret Barton of Birdseye, IN; daughter, Vicki (Tom) Market; daughter-in-law, Diane Barton; grandchildren, Mike (Laura) Market, all of Evansville, Amy (Dave) Maver, Katie (Lionel) Manyoky, both of Newburgh, and Melanie Barton of Evansville; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Joan) Barton of Evansville; sister, Bonnie (Howard) Abston of Crawfordsville, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Terry Gamblin, with entombment in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Daniel's family would like to thank the following people and organizations who cared for him during his short battle with cancer: Oncology Hematology Associates, specifically Dr. Waits and his staff; Chemo Buddies at OHA; Heritage Hospice nurses and staff; Deaconess Gateway Hospital Med/Surg ICU; and Med/Tele Unit nurses, doctors, and staff.
