Danny Lee Rhoades

Danny Lee Rhoades, 88, of Evansville, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born on April 26, 1935, in Evansville to the late Eli and Lucy (Durham) Rhoades.

Danny was a jack of all trades and had several careers. His first job, at age 12, was at Midget Links Mini Golf and a soda jerk at College Corner. He worked for 17 years at the Courier and Press in delivery and advertising & was also photo engraver. He was a welder for Chrysler and for years he owned United All In One Rental and later retired from Kight Lumber as a Salesman. In his younger years was a Sergeant in the National Guard for over 10 years in the 163rd Artillery, a 32nd degree Freemason, and a Shriner. He was very gifted in the knowledge of home construction and took great pride in doing things the right way. Danny really enjoyed hunting and fishing with his good friends, and going out dancing with his wife, Shelby. He was currently a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and prayed constantly.

Danny is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shelby (Griffith) Rhoades; daughter, Angie Wright; son, Chris Wright; granddaughters, Ashley Childers and Gracie (Justus Chase) Koziatek; grandsons, Fox Wright, Colin Wright, and Gregory Rhoades II; two great-grandchildren, Londyn Morrow and Viktorija Rhoades; sisters, Marge Campbell, Rita (Vinny) Pinto, and Mary Lou (Mike) Welch; sister-in-law, Debbie Staley; brother-in- law, Charles Hill; best friends, Dave (Ann) and Jason (Lynne) Goodman; and several other friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steve and Gregory Rhoades; and five siblings, Betty, Esther, Clarence, Eugene, and Melvin.

Friends and family may gather for a visitation on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Funeral services, officiated by Father Bernie Etienne will be held at 3:00 pm. following the visitation.
