

She was formerly a master teller for many years at Citizens Bank, Weinbach Avenue branch. She graduated from Central High School, attended Vincennes University, and took classes at the University of Evansville. She was a joyful person and frequently smiled when people mistook her for her twin sister Carlene. She would whisper later that the two didn’t look alike.
Darlene was preceded in death by her daughter, JaNique Marie; parents, Willie Thomas III and Velvet (Schaffer) Thomas; sisters, Carmaleta Thomas-Brown, Sylvia Thomas and her twin, Carlene Hall; brothers, Willie Thomas IV, Pierre Thomas and Jeffery Thomas; and a niece, Sabrina Thomas.
She is survived by her daughters, Talia Taylor and Rahni Taylor; sisters, Kathleen T. Wagner and Portland Johnson, both of Evansville, Sunday Thomas of Houston, TX, and Mary Hornbeck of St. Louis, MO.; brothers, Johnie Dee Thomas of Cincinnati, OH, Mark Thomas of Pawtucket, RI, Dennis Thomas of Federal Way, WA, and Paul Thomas of Evansville; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. She was married to and remained friends with Ronald L. Taylor of Evansville.
Services will be 12:00 PM Friday, May 30, 2014 at Alexander East Chapel, the Rev. Willie Ellis officiating, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
