David was born in Evansville, Indiana on July 15, 1961, and attended Plaza Park Grade School, Harrison High School, and the College of Charleston, South Carolina. He was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church.
David was kind, generous, funny, inventive, and the smartest guy in the room. An excellent athlete, his favorite place was any golf course on Kiawah Island, South Carolina. We rejoice that David is free from his body, and we are sure he has already scheduled a tee time in heaven! David endured his illness with such strength and grace that will forever be an inspiration to us all.
Along with his parents, David leaves behind his sister, Cary (McCool) Gray (Michael); brothers, Jim McCool (Kristin) and Mike McCool (Belle Anne); several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, along with his sweet dog, Sugar Bear. If so inclined, a donation to your favorite animal shelter would be a thoughtful way to remember David.
Special thanks to Dr. Rick Crawford and Anne Marie and Megan from Heart to Heart Hospice for their exceptional care, and also to John Fisher and Dana Goddard for being such dear friends to David. The family will have a private celebration to honor David’s presence on this earth.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.”
