Deborah Faye (Boyd) Setser, 65, of Oakland City, IN passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021. She was born to Ellen and Forrest Charles Boyd on December 3, 1955 in Evansville, IN. She was the last of 7 children.
Debbie met and married Gary and they were very happy until her death. Gary made sure Debbie was well taken care of and he made sure she was able to see her sisters when she asked to come to Evansville.
She worked at McDonald’s on First Ave. until her health got so bad that she was unable to do so. She loved her job, but her favorite job was being an aunt to her sister’s kids. She instilled in them the love of reading by getting them their first Little House on the Prairie books and when they spent the night, she would have Louise Alcott’s Little Women stashed away for them to read. Aunt Debbie made sure that we learned about God and hoped we had a relationship with Him by taking us to church each Sunday. She loved us all and we loved her.
Debbie is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Katherine Hall, Margaret (Margie) Granderson, Ellen Huffine, Forrestine Noffsinger, Forrest Charles Boyd, who was affectionately called Sony or Uncle Bub and a stillborn baby.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Gary Setser; sisters, Carol Mohr (Don) and Phyllis Bingham; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, and great -great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Alexander Memorial Park Chapel, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, with Pastor Gene Burkhart officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the chapel.
Aunt Debbie, at Grandma’s casket you told her you would see her in the morning. Your morning came on May 30th. I know there was a celebration unlike any celebration that has been seen.
