Delora (Whiteside) Lancaster, 65, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2014, at Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper, IN. She was born January 16, 1949, in Evansville, to the late John and Pansy (Benton) Whiteside.
She was a member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church. She worked as an underground coal miner with Peabody Coal Company and was a Nursing Assistant at Deaconess Hospital. She was a very special person who never met a stranger and would give the shirt off her back to anyone. She loved the Lord and all his creations. She loved music, dancing and being a wife and mother.
Delora was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Rusty Lancaster.
She is survived by her loving son, John (Sandy) Lancaster; sisters, Doloris “Dee” Spalding (Mike Smith), Linda (Pat) Schile and Amy (George) Kendle; special guardian friend, Lavonne Masters; and numerous other special friends.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Robert A. Nall, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
