Delores “Dodie” Goodman, 74, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Deaconess VNA Plus Charlier Hospice Center. She was born August 22, 1940, in Evansville, to the late Michael Paul and Bertha Elizabeth (Roach) Langton.
She loved her family, especially her constant companion of the last 21 years, Merlin her Cockatiel, and was very family oriented. She worked as the “Demo Lady” for 20 plus years at various locations and attended Vann Avenue Baptist Church. Dodie always had Reese’s Cups for her grandchildren, would do anything for anyone, never expecting anything in return, and would always prepare a big dinner for family night. She enjoyed writing poems, especially for other people, and even had one of her poems published in Readers Digest. She was a prankster, a huge UK Basketball fan, and loved collecting Tweety Birds.
Dodie was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Larry Goodman; and sister, Helen Willett.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Susan) Goodman and Laurie (Timothy) Schucker; grandchildren, Brandon (Deidre) and Benjamin (Victoria Gish) Goodman, and Steven (Jessica), Karissa (Nat Mercer), Justin, and Daren (Taylar Morse) Schucker; ten great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard Langton.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Robert Nall and Dr. Larry T. Lewis, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
