She was a longtime, faithful member of Gateway Baptist Church in Newburgh, Indiana, and was a homemaker. Delores loved going to Covered Bridge Festival and attended for nearly 30 years with her family and friends. She was a member of the ECRL (CB) Club with her husband, Jim, and both held Ham Radio licenses. She was a past president of the Scott School PTA many years ago.
Delores was preceded in death by her husband, James Shoptaugh; parents; and sisters, Thelma Hilt and Betty Johnson.
She is survived by her sons, James Shoptaugh II (Julie) and Jon Shoptaugh (Angie); grandchildren, Kylie Gummer (Adam), Dane Shoptaugh (Brittany), Brendon Shoptaugh, and Abby Shoptaugh; great grandchildren, Lily, Matthew, and Nila Hirsch, and Javen Eaves; and niece and nephew, Theresa Herrenbruck (Ron) and Roy Hilt (Jayne).
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois St. Evansville, IN, with burial to follow in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
