

Donald “Donnie” Henry Alms of Newburgh, IN passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024, at the age of 87. Donnie was born on February 2, 1937, to Henry and Edna (Splittorff) Alms. He was raised in Millersburg, IN and later resided in Chandler, IN before moving to Newburgh, IN.
Donnie graduated from Millersburg High School. Donnie retired from Alcoa after 33 years working mainly in the finishing department. In retirement, Donnie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donnie loved being outdoors and was a huge fan of Indiana University and the Indianapolis Colts.
Donnie was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Edna Alms; his brothers, Jimmy Alms, Larry Alms, and Mike Alms; and his daughter, Karen Martin. Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bonnie Alms; children, Tony (Veronica) Alms and Beth (Monty) Goines; grandchildren, Amanda Alms, Tish (Cory) Andreanopoulos, Christina (Dexter) Wolf, Rachel (Jose) Aviles, Nick Martin, Christian Goines, Haley Goines, and Jalen Goines; and lots of great grandchildren. Donnie is also survived by his siblings, Nydia Norman, Ed (Valerie) Alms, and Judy (Dan) Hahn, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and Sammy, his cat. Donnie was deeply loved by his many cherished friends and family members throughout his life.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Village of Hamilton Pointe Memory Care and Assisted Living Staff and AseraCare Hospice Staff for the care and compassion they showed Donnie.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Alexander Funeral Home-West Chapel, 2100 W Illinois Street, Evansville, IN 47712, officiated by Pastor Mark Moog.

Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date in Evansville Lutheran Cemetery.
