Don met his wife Shelly while they were both serving in the United States Army and stationed in Pirmasens Germany. After their military service they moved back to Don’s home town of Evansville, IN where they began raising their family. Don and Shelly then began a career in home building and started Bolin Construction Co., Inc. Don took great pride in building quality homes and enjoyed the work immensely. Later, they owned and operated the West Haven Chalet, another page in their lives that they really enjoyed as they were able to work with their children and grandchildren.
When Don finally “retired” he moved into the role as caregiver for his grandchildren and loved every minute of it. While Don enjoyed building homes and running West Haven Chalet, his family was his greatest joy and accomplishment. Don left his family with a strong foundation built on love. Don always said he never had a bad day because he got to do what he loved.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Rachael “Shelly” Bolin; parents, Virgil and Katie Bolin; sister, Frances Johnson; and brothers, Billy Joe Bolin, Larry Michael Bolin, and Bruce Bolin.
He is survived by his children, Kathy Mosby; Sherri (Rick) Brown, Donna Bolin, and Donald (Amy) Bolin, Jr.; grandchildren, Keith Mosby, Jr., Rachael (Chris) Gibson, Kelly (Ryan) Greenlee, Lauren (Ryan) Eagleson, Wyatt V. Bolin, and Autumn Bolin; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Isabella, Everly, and Nathan Gibson, and Evelynn and Emerson Eagleson; sister-in-law, Barbara Bolin; and several nieces and nephews.
